Shipments plunged 58.05% to 190,600 units for the first seven months of the year, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said, while value was off 52.55% to US$2.81bn.
Car shipments fell 70.66% to 47,100 units while trucks were down 44.35% to 96,600 and buses off 56.87% to 20,200.
Imports fell 26.51% to 182,200 units and their value was down 28.97% to US$6.49bn during the same period, Asia Pulse said.
Car imports were down 28.18% to 66,000.
