Parts supplier Heuliez’ formal receipt of an EUR8m (US$10.4m) State loan has been hailed by the government as a concrete example of Franco-German industrial co-operation.
At a signing ceremony in Paris, French Industry Minister Christian Estrosi and founder of Kohl Mia Electric Edwin Kohl – which will take over Heuliez’s EV operations – inked the deal that will see the “green loan” spread for ten years.

“This is not a simple contract, it is much more,” said Estrosi. “It is the commitment of the State with the commitment of Heuliez.
“It is a formidable challenge and Mia Heuliez has formidable potential – it is logical we have made [this] decision – the State will play its role. It is a good example of Franco-German partnership.”
Estrosi added the loan would allow the company to develop an electric vehicle” in France and Europe.”
The Industry Ministry noted Heuliez had now restarted its operations and “in some months,” would evaluate test models.
