Brand vice president Ben Poore said that IPL provides ‘premium performance’ for buyers seeking a high level of exclusivity.  He added: “IPL promises unique driving attributes from other models, without adding stratospheric prices.”

The concept follows the world debut of the first production vehicle in the new range, the 2011 IPL G Coupe, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August.

The limited production car has a 348hp, 3.7-litre V6, high-flow full dual exhaust, sport-tuned suspension and steering gear, aerodynamic styling and sport-style interior treatment and goes on sale in the US in December.

A decision on launching similar models in Europe will be made later after reaction to the Paris concept has been considered.

Infiniti has also released a sketch of its first electric vehicle which it will launch in the US and other markets in 2013.

Poore said the EV will sit comfortably within the brand’s promise of ‘inspired Performance’ – as a stylish, high performance, five seat, luxury vehicle with zero emissions.

He added: “The EV will play a major part of Infiniti’s eco performance strategy that will see a greater focus on hybrid and EV technology. We are committed to applying the world’s best technologies to reduce emissions without sacrificing driving excitement or engagement – a pledge that will become more evident soon with the upcoming introduction of our new M hybrid.”

The 2012 M35h, with ‘direct response hybrid technology’, makes its North American debut at the Los Angeles show in November. It’s based on the M sedan and has claimed V8 performance with I4 fuel economy from a 302hp, 3.5-litre V6 supplemented by a 50kW (67hp) electric motor.

The M35h can be driven on electric power alone at speeds up to 50mph (80kph)and goes on sale next spring.
