Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of 3,681 cars during October 2000. This compares to 2,627 cars in October 1999. Year-to-date, Saab is keeping up with the pace set in 1999. The year-to-date total sales are at 32,595, which is down 4.7 percent from the same period in 1999 (34,121). Saab believes it will match last year’s sales figure — which was up 28.6 percent over 1998.
Sales of the Saab 9-5 Sedan and Wagon remain extremely strong with a total of 2,428 cars sold during October. This compares to 1,244 9-5 models sold in October 1999. Of this total, 1,798 were 9-5 Sedans, which is an increase of 93 percent compared to October 1999. Saab also retailed 630 9-5 Wagons in October — a 107 percent increase over October 1999. Saab sold 1,253 9-3 models in October.
