New car sales in Poland grew 8.14% year-on-year to 24,991 units in September, according to automotive research institute Samar.

This performance took sales for the first nine months of the year to more than 239,600 units, a 2% increase on the same period in 2008.


Samar also estimates that about 20% of the country’s vehicles were exported, mainly to Germany as dealers there continued to fill orders generated by the country’s scrappage programme which has now ended. A stronger euro – up more than 30% against the Polish zloty – makes Polish-built cars less expensive for buyers in Germany and other eurozone countries.
