Sales of cars and light trucks in Brazil dipped in October for the second straight month, partly because of fewer working days, the Fenabrave dealers association said on Monday.

Total sales reached 287,537 vehicle last month, compared with 307,043 in September, the Sao Paulo-based association for dealerships said in a statement cited by Reuters. In the first 10 months of 2010, sales rose 6.6% to 2.66m vehicles.
October had 20 working days, one less than September, the association said. Despite the consecutive monthly declines, Brazil’s automobile market has benefited from a boom in domestic credit and low unemployment that has stoked demand for new cars the past year.
