Talks over the future of Volvo have stalled between owner Ford and suitor Geely Holdings, according to reports.

Reuters cited sources as saying that talks, currently being held in London, had stalled over disagreements on intellectual property. 


They confirmed that talks were focused on the US carmaker’s worries about sharing its proprietary technology and plans for new products.


In September, Ford CEO Alan Mulally said plans to sell Volvo Cars were progressing, with Geely Automotive saying its parent company planned to bid for Volvo.


Industry observers had suggested a price tag of around US$2.5bn for the Swedish unit.
