Executive vice president Koichi Kondo told a results news conference that US auto market recovery is more elusive than previously thought, according to Reuters.


Honda said in a statement its Q2 fiscal 2009 automobile unit sales totaled 838,000 units, down 10.4% year on year. Japan sales rose 3.9% to 158,000 units while sales outside of Japan fell 13.2% to 680,000 as decreased sales in North America more than offset increased sales in Asia, especially in China and India.


The company is forecasting 3.4m sales worldwide this year, down 117,000 units year on year.
