Hyundai sales totalled 288,618, up from 269,895 a year ago, with overseas sales of 222,160 (217,160) and domestic sales of 66,458 (52,735).


Kia’s total volume was 149,591 (139,373) with 113,574 (105,764) sold abroad and 36,017 (33,609) at home.


GM-Daewoo sales, on the other hand, were down 25% from 73,333 in October 2008 to 55,314 last month. Sales overseas tallied 42,945 (64,944) but domestic sales were up to 12,369 from 8,389.


Renault Samsung sales rose 26% to 20,470 (16,295) with overseas sales dipping to 7,908 (8,864) and domestic sales surging to 12,562 from 7,431.


Ssangyong sales fell 35% to 4,630 (7,167). Overseas sales were down to 1,844 from 4,349 a year ago but domestic sales were virtually flat at 2,786 (2,818).
