Data for November car sales released by Spanish auto industry trade association ANFAC shows little sign of any significant let-up in the Spanish car market’s precipitous decline following the ending of a government scrappage scheme in the summer.
New car sales in November were 25.5% down on the same month last year at 64,515 units.

Cumulative car sales to the end of November stood at 913,073 units, 5.9% ahead of the same period of last year and reflecting the boost the market received from government subsidies for car purchase earlier this year.
Local analysts say that Spanish car sales are set to fall next year to under 900,000 units and the local industry is calling for new measures to support the market.
ANFAC said that next year will mark the third in which car sales will total under 1m units, bringing the market back to volume levels last seen in the 1990s.
