Sales for the year now total 1.32m vehicles, up 14% on 2009. Marketing chief Ian Robertson said the company is “well on its way” to reaching its target of more than 1.4m units this year.
He added: “We are outperforming the market and were able to expand our share worldwide once again.”
Luxury car demand is returning following the economic downturn with growth particularly in China and the US. The 5 series, X1 and new Mini Countryman have given BMW extra momentum, Robertson said.
Sales of the new version of the 5 series, introduced earlier this year, jumped 87% to 20,702. The X1 sold 9,160 units, topping 100,000 sales since being introduced last autumn. Mini sold 4,165 units of the Countryman, which went on sale in September.
In its domestic market of Germany, sales of BMW and Mini brands climbed 29.6% in November, with a total of 25,156 new vehicle registrations vs 19,409 last year.
A number of other key markets across the world also reported positive trends including South Korea, up 89.8% to 1,860 units; South Africa, up 32.3% to 2,094; Japan, up 15.4% to 3,330 and Italy which rose 13% to 6,410 units.
