Suzuki will recall 177,692 units of its WagonR and six other minivehicles, including those it produces for other automakers, citing defective door parts, the Japanese transport ministry said.
Kyodo News said the minivehicles were manufactured between January and May this year and include Suzuki’s Alto, Lapin and Palette minicars as well as the Nissan Roox and the Mazda Carol and AZ-Wagon, which Suzuki manufactures under OEM deals.

Suzuki said ill-fitting parts may prevent their rear doors from closing firmly. In the worst case, the doors could open while the vehicles are moving, according to the ministry, which was notified about the recall.
Suzuki also told the ministry separately that it will recall 49,122 units of the Palette and Roox due to faulty wheel covers that could fall off when mounting a curb.
Subject to the recall are vehicles manufactured between January 2008 and August 2010. Of the total, 7,850 units have both defects.
