Fiat redesigned the saloon’s rear lights, bumpers and boot lid to make the new model look similar to stablemate Lancia’s Lybra sedan, which is not sold in Brazil.

Fiat expects the restyled Marea saloon to sell at the rate of 1,000 a month, well up on its predecessor’s 400.

The Brazilian Marea range is built in Betim, Minas Gerais state, with 1.8-litre 16-valve, 2.4-litre 20-valve and two-litre 20-valve turbocharged petrol engines.

The larger pair of engines is unique to the Brazilian line-up and not available in European Mareas.
