Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on Tuesday said it had developed a lift parking system with an electric power source to recharge the batteries of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.

As each pallet of the system is equipped with a power source, a vehicle is automatically recharged while parked, Mitsubishi said.


Starting in January, the company will offer the system for JPY1m yen per pallet.


It hopes to sell systems for 50 vehicles in 2010, rising to 500 in 2014.
