Hyundai Motor Co. has announced that its Indian subsidiary Hyundai Motor India’s exports broke the 500,000-unit mark last week.

Hyundai Motor India first began exporting vehicles produced at its Indian plants in 1999 to Nepal.
By October 2004, the company’s exports exceeded 100,000 units and its exports have increased by 100,000 units each year, the fastest exports growth rate recorded by India-based carmakers, and was awarded the exporter of the year award by the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India, the company said.
Hyundai Motor India currently has an annual production capacity of 600,000 units and manufactures the compact cars Click, i10, Santro and Verna.
