Ford is planning deeper cuts than expected at its idled Kentucky truck plant due to resume operations on 4 August.

Public affairs manager Angie Kozleski told local website Business First Louisville that the automaker would scale work back from three shifts to two in its body stamping and paint department, eliminating about 300 jobs, or 8.3% of the plant’s 3,625 hourly workforce.
Officials hope to decide which jobs will go by mid-August but, in the meantime, is encouraging hourly workers at the plant to consider accepting one of the company’s buyout offers, the report added.
Business First Louisville said the news came after Ford reported earlier this week that June sales of its F-Series pick-up trucks, including the Super Duty versions made at the Kentucky plant, fell 40.5%. F-series sales in the first half declined 22.7% to 274,713 units.
