A total of 9,906 passenger cars and commercial vehicles were sold in August compared with 11,636 units in the same month last year, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines and the Truck Manufacturers Association reported.
Total vehicle sales in the first eight months of the year reached 83,196 units, up 13.1% over the same period last year.
“Decline in sales is largely due to expected cyclicality. Sales are expected to pick up in the coming months,” the two groups said.
They said sales are still on track to reach their target of 125,500 vehicles. Last year 117,903 vehicles were sold.
