The milestone unit was installed in a Fiat 500.

Blue&Me was developed by the automaker with Microsoft and allows drivers to make phone calls and hear incoming texts on a Bluetooth-enabled phone, search through a phone book and listen to MP3 music without taking their hands from the steering wheel – it can be voice-controlled or operated by steering wheel or dash-mounted buttons.

The technology includes a pictogram navigation system and a new ecoDrive feature arrives in October. This uses a USB memory stick to collect information on the car’s efficiency and driver’s style that – once connected to a computer – provides details of environmental performance and advice on driving to achieve lower emissions and fuel consumption.
