Hino Motors Manufacturing USA in Williamstown, West Virginia, is the firm’s first wholly-owned truck assembly facility in the country.
The new factory began production last November and has now assembled about 1,000 Class 4 to 7 units for customers in such sectors as residential/commercial moving, armoured car service, beverage distribution, and wrecker service.
The plant employs 105 people full-time and HMM has invested about US$18,000,000 in the plant and equipment to date.
Hino will soon begin assembling trucks in Colombia in a $20m project with Mitsui and Colombia’s Praco-Didacol Group, just-auto’s local correspondent reported on Monday.
