Overall light duty truck sales were down 2.2% while passenger vehicle sales were up 5.1%, the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada said.


Year to date vehicle sales were up 1.4% to 1,313,631 units.


AIAMC members’ market share for the month was up to 54% from 50.6% in September 2007. YTD share was 51.5% versus 47.2% at the end of the third quarter.


Import brands Audi, Mini, Acura, Mercedes, Suzuki, Infiniti, Lexus and VW all posted substantial volume rises in Canada last month, the association added.
