Opel’s Bochum plant has been shut down for two weeks, and lines at Eisenach are due to halt next week for three weeks.
A spokesperson told just-auto.com that “As a result of the financial crisis, market demand in some countries, such as Spain, has dropped substantially, and we are adjusting our inventory accordingly.”
There are also stoppages at plants in Spain and the UK.
Around 5,000 employees are being affected by the latest cuts in Germany.
