Hyundai UK said two ships arrived in the last week of September, with 800 new i10s on each. Public relations chief Tom Barnard said: “We managed to register 1,488 of them. Except for three new press cars for me, they all went to genuine customers who have been waiting up to three months for their new car.
“We also did 1,464 Getz – mainly to people who wanted an i10 but didn’t want to wait.”
He added that while Hyundai sales were down from 5,576 in September last year to 4,970, retail sales were up 6% in a channel that fell over 25%.
“It’s good to have some little cars that people want to buy at the moment.”
