According to German press agency dpa, the car – code-named B-Max – will be built exclusively at the plant.
Little information is available yet but a spokesman said it will not replace the current Fusion [the European B-segment MPV model based on the previous-generation Fiesta]. Instead, it will be a small car that “defies conventional segmentation” and will have “lots of interior space”.
Ford recently bought one-time Daewoo plant from the Romanian government. By 2012, 300,000 cars and 300,000 engines should be produced each year at the plant.
Ford initially will start producing the Transit van there next year.
