Car output at Russia’s Taganrog Automobile Plant, or TagAZ, rose 80% year-on-year to 83,159 units in the first nine months of this year, according to the Federal State Statistics Service’s branch for the Rostov Region.

However, truck output at TagAZ fell 49.4% on the year to 3,752 trucks in the same period.
In September, TagAZ produced 7,277 cars, down 6.7% on last year.
In 2007, TagAZ produced 71,050 cars, up 46.8% on the year, and 10,389 trucks, up 45.1% on the year.
TagAZ started producing Chinese Chery cars in August.
The company plans to sell Chery Fora sedans and Chery Tiggo sport utility vehicles (SUVs). The Chery Fora model will be sold in Russia as the Vortex Estina.
TagAZ started producing Vortex Estina cars in August.
Previously, Chery cars were assembled at the Russian assembly plant Avtotor.
