The 1.2-litre, five-door hatchback Splash, produced by Magyar Suzuki, was launched as consumer demand for fuel-efficient compact vehicles is on the rise in Japan, the automaker said.
The Splash is targeted mainly at female drivers in their 20s to 40s in Japan where it comes standard with a CVT transmission. Monthly sales target is 500 units.
Suzuki sells the Splash in Europe and also builds the Opel Agila version for GM Europe.
Suzuki also plans to make and sell the Splash in India next year.
