Lithuania’s new car market declined by 31% year-on-year to 1,900 units in October as Lithuania’s economy felt the impact of tighter credit conditions and lowered consumer confidence.


Data issued from the Autotyrimai research company also showed that the market was showed that a total of 22,700 new cars were registered in Lithuania during the first ten months of this year, up 9% on the same period of last year.


In October year-on-year, the registration of new cars for personal use declined by 25% to 1,700 units and the number of cars for commercial use slumped by 65% to 134 units.


Toyota led the new car market last month, with 275 cars registered, followed by Volkswagen and Skoda.
