The Associated Press (AP) said that 1,500 workers will be affected. Ford has been unable to find a buyer for the plant, which makes hydraulic steering systems and the plant has become redundant as the industry is switching to electronic steering. The company also considers the plant too large.
Ford took over the plant as part of its bailout of Visteon in 2005 and most employees at the plant have accepted buyout or retirement offers.
