The closure is part of its global working hours rationalisation programme and due to the slowdown in international markets, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

The company also decided not to permanently employ about 300 trainees in its various plants across the country.

“Out of five plants in India, we manufacture automotive parts in four and these are the plants where rationalisation is constantly taking place as demand of all kinds of auto components is falling,” a Bosch spokesman told PTI.

The report said the company was temporarily shuttering starter and generator manufacture at Naganathapura from 19-31 December and was also considering more temporary halts at Bangalore, Naganathapura, Nashik and Jaipur next month.
