British Rover and MG cars are again on sale in Argentina after a break of more
than a year, writes Rogério Louro Alves.
The two brands are now distributed by a new importer, the Cobel Group, which
also handles Isuzu in Argentina.
Rover and MG were previously imported by the Canley Group which ceased operations
early in 2000.
Cobel has taken on Rover and MG in Argentina to strengthen its vehicle range.
Until now it has been able to compete only in the SUV market with Isuzu vehicles
but the addition of the British range will allow it to contest both the passenger
car and sports car segments.
All three brands are sold from the same showrooms.
Cobel has re-launched Rover with a selection of 25, 45 and 75 saloon and hatchback
models which sell alongside the sporty mid-engined MGF roadster.

MG models in 2002, with the British brands accounting for 60% of the volume.
