Best-selling model remained the Octavia (also still built in previous generation Tour form) with 146,772 buyers in 92 countries.


Sales of the larger Superb have improved 3.6% so far in 2007 to about 11,000 units thus far.


The Roomster MPV, now halfway through its first full year on the market, has established itself with 33,528 sales and the redesigned Fabia has sold 16,000 units.


Škoda enjoyed its best ever first half sales in western Europe this year with sales of about 173,000 cars up almost 12%.


Sales rose by 15.4% in the depressed German market to 58,423 units; Belgium was up nearly  to 8,831 cars and Spanish sales rose 9.6% to around 15,000.


Deliveries of cars also rose in the developing markets of central and eastern Europe where 115,960 cars, up 16.4%, found homes here.


Sales in Asia rose 7.2% to 21,710 cars with India, home to a local assembly operation, leading with 5,913 sales.


In China, where the Octavia has only been available to order since 6 June, 6,000 requests have already been registered by dealers.
