Exports of finished cars from China rose 71.2% year on year to 241,000 complete vehicles (including complete sets of spare parts and vehicle chassis with engines) in the first half of 2007.

Export value rose 110.7% to $US2.7bn, the People’s Daily Online said.


Truck exports rose 59.1% to 104,000 units, accounting for 43.2% of China’s total auto exports volume. Value rose 52.3% to $792m.


Exports of high-value “special purpose vehicles” also grew prominently. Although export volume only accounted for 5.4% of China’s auto exports, value accounted for 23.6%.


The average export price of individual auto products rose 23% to $11,200, the report said.


China exported vehicles to 177 countries in the first half with Russia the top market, followed by Kazakhstan.


Iran was third but growth declined.


In terms of export value, Asia was China’s largest auto export market, accounting for 39.0%. Europe was second (30.7%) followed by Africa, South America, North America and Oceania.
