The company said this was the first step in the modernisation of its distribution centre system.


When completed, the 1m sq ft warehouse will be the tyre maker’s largest distribution centre in the US, employing 250 people.


Nelson Miller, the company’s logistics head, said: “Our primary motivation for selecting Jacksonville is its strategic location near the Port of Jacksonville, which is expanding and will give us the ability to provide overnight delivery service to more than 96% of our customers.”
