Greg Tyus has been named executive director, engineering at GM Holden, succeeding Tony Hyde who is retiring. Tyus is currently general director, engineering & product planning at GM Canada.

This followed Hyde’s earlier announcement that he planned to retire on 31 December after 39 years service with General Motors.


Tyus will begin transitioning into his new position at Holden during November.


He began his career with General Motors in 1979 as a cooperative student and gained engineering experience in GM North America with a variety of assignments including senior project engineer, design engineer and assistant staff engineer until his appointment as engineering director, closure systems, in 2000.


From 2001 to 2003, he held engineering director positions in body CAE as well as in engineering architecture & speciality vehicles. In 2004, he was appointed as director, chassis/powertrain, HVAC, electrical and vehicle assembly engineering with GM Canada.


He held this position until 2005, when he was appointed to his current post as general director, engineering & product planning for the GM Canada engineering centre.
