Suzuki has never built a European D-segment car but has rebadged GM-Daewoo models to offer similar-sized cars in North America.

Suzuki said the Kizashi 2 was “conceived for energetic people in activities ranging from business to leisure” and has a 3.6-litre V6 engine – the largest engine it has ever used with six-speed automatic transmission.

Suzuki will also show a a new people-centred vehicle concept called Sustainable Mobility, which is a combination of a one-person low-speed transport device called the Pixy and a minicar-based mobility unit called the SSC, which forms an automobile when the Pixy is paired with it. The pair together deliver personal, shareable urban transportation in line with the Japanese ministry of economy, trade and industry’s next-generation vehicle and fuel initiative, which is aimed at realising the world’s most people-centred motorised society, the automaker said.

The Pixy can also be paired with a sports-car unit called the SSF and with a boat unit called the SSJ.

The X-head is a cross-utility vehicle that can hold various load-bed units for diverse purposes. For instance, it can hold a unit called the Camper, which allows two adults to sleep in comfort, a unit called the Fashion, which provides stylish urban mobility, or a unit called the Rescue, which is designed for rescue operations in a wide range of road conditions.

The production-ready-looking Palette is a minicar – Suzuki’s speciality – aimed at parents with children and youngsters “who like having fun with friends” and is claimed to offer a level of comfort unprecedented among minivehicles. It has left- and right-hand powered sliding doors and a low, flat floor.

Suzuki will also show the Splash compact developed in a joint venture with GM (theirs is the Opel/Vauxhall Agila) that its European unit will launch in spring 2008.
