July imported vehicle sales in Japan rose 5.1% from a year earlier to 23,185 units,
with leader Volkswagen posting a 14.4% increase, Kyodo News reported, citing the
Japan Automobile Importers Association.

Vehicles made by foreign makers accounted for 21,972 of the total, up 9.1%,
while those made in Japanese car makers’ factories abroad declined to 1,213,
down 36.6%, Kyodo News quoted the association as saying.
