GM has said it has opened a design centre in Bangalore, India, to support its global operations.

The GM India Design Studio in Bangalore will study local product design requirements, as well as contribute to mid-cycle enhancement of its global models and advanced design of future products, GM said in a statement.
“This is an important step in GM’s growth in this crucial market,” GM India President and Managing Director Karl Slym said.
GM, which makes the Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo and Chevrolet Spark in a plant in western Gujarat state, is building a new plant in Maharashtra state that will take its capacity in India to over 225,000 units.
It has said it may build an engine and transmission plant as well, and that India could become an export hub for small cars.
