Nissan Motor Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga has told journalists covering the Japanese launch of a new minivan the automaker isn’t considering any tie-ups with US automakers but notably declined to comment on weekend reports of talks on an alliance with Chrysler.

“At this point, we aren’t considering anything at all,” Shiga told the Associated Press (AP) after a press conference.
But he said: “I can’t comment on that,” when asked specifically about talks with Chrysler, the news agency noted.
The Japanese business newspaper Nikkei on Saturday published an unsourced report that Nissan would supply Chrysler with its compact Versa for North American markets in return for Chrysler’s medium and large models, including minivans and pickup trucks.
Carlos Ghosn, head of both Nissan and Renault said at the Tokyo Motor Show in October he remained interested in a partnership with a major US automaker, AP noted.
