A programme of job cuts at Mercedes may cost the company more than it had planned, according to German weekly magazine Focus Money.

Mercedes had planned to cut 8,500 jobs by September, at a cost of around EUR950m,


However the company now expects costs to exceed EUR1bn.


Around 7,000 employees have already been cut or had signed severance agreements, according to a source quoted by the magazine.
