Management staff at a Toyota joint venture car plant started partial work on Thursday after union workers went on strike last Friday, a union member told Kyodo News.

Ravi R, joint secretary of the union, reportedly said that around 1,400 employees directly related to production at Toyota Kirloskar Motor were still on strike on Thursday, but 1,100 workers from the company’s management side have resumed work.
The company is a joint venture between India’s Kirloskar Group and Toyota.
The news agency noted that the workers went on strike last Friday following dismissal of three employees. The company imposed an indefinite lockout on Sunday at the Bidadi plant near Bangalore, capital of Karnataka state.
”We have received a four-page memorandum stating demands made by the union. We will be meeting Monday to discuss them. However, we are sticking to our stand that indiscipline will not be tolerated,” AR Shankar, the company’s general manager for corporate planning, told Kyodo News.
