Turkey’s automotive industry increased exports by 3% year on year to 87,000 vehicles for the first two months of 2006, data from the Turkish Automotive Industry Association (OSD) showed, according to the Turkish News Digest.

Passenger car exports – such as Toyota’s Corolla Verso – dropped 2% to 45,000 units, while exports of commercial vehicles – including such models as the Ford Transit Connect went up 9% to 43,000 units.
Automotive sector output increased 10% to 133,000 commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Passenger car output rose 11% to 68,000 units.
Domestic sales of motor vehicles increased 21.8% to 75,000 units from January to February 2006. Sales of passenger cars rose 27.1% to 41,000 units, of which imports comprised 73%, the Turkish News Digest said.
