The global market share of the Nissan-Renault alliance came to a record high 9.8%, the companies told Kyodo News, adding the sales volume was also a record-high figure.
Nissan and Renault sold 3,597,748 units, up 9.2% from the previous year, and 2,531,506, up 1.7%, respectively.
The two automakers are allied in the launch of products on jointly developed engines and platforms and aim to continue boosting sales in 2006, the report added.
