PSA will start production at its new plant in Trnava, Slovakia, on 15 May 15, Agence France-Presse reported.
The new plant will will have an initial capacity of 300,000 vehicles from three shifts and will build current model small cars on the PF1 platform. Around 3,500 people will be employed.
A second new model will be introduced from 2010 with production potentially another 150,000 units a year. It will share the PF1 platform and assembly line. The additional model will cost €350m to launch and create around 1,800 jobs.
