Toyota said on Wednesday vice chairman and former president Fujio Cho would replace Hiroshi Okuda as chairman pending approval at a board meeting in June.

Okuda, 73, who served as Toyota’s president between 1995 and 1999, will remain on the board as a senior adviser to the company, Reuters reported.
Cho, 69, is also due to become chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association this month.
