GM’s Lordstown, Ohio assemply plant was shut down temporarily at the end of last week because of a parts shortage, according to Reuters.

The morning and afternoon shifts were sent home early on Friday, while GM arranged to have the parts shipped in over the weekend, at the component supplier’s cost.
Separately, Automotive News reported that the components were airbags from TRW. GM would not confirm this.
GM assembles the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5 and Pursuit at the Lordstown plant.
Reuters said that this is the first time in several years that GM has had to shut a plant down because of a parts shortage.
