KPIT Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vietnamese engineering and mobility solutions company Vietsol to jointly pursue mobility software and engineering work across Southeast Asia.

The agreement covers Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, with room to extend to select global programmes beyond the region.

Under the MoU, the companies will jointly approach customers, scope out market opportunities together, and deliver engineering programmes for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other mobility sector players in the region.

KPIT president and joint managing director Sachin Tikekar said: “Through our collaboration with Vietsol, we are combining global mobility software expertise with strong regional execution capabilities to help OEMs and mobility ecosystem players accelerate their journey toward cleaner, smarter, and safer mobility.”

In a statement, KPIT said the tie-up combines its “three decades of mobility-focused software expertise, global OEM relationships, and technology accelerators with Vietsol’s regional presence, engineering talent, and delivery capabilities”.

The companies aim to “help customers accelerate product development, improve engineering efficiency, and deliver differentiated mobility experiences”.

The agreement also outlines a mutual business plan. Both companies can now sell each other’s products, engineering work, and software tools together in chosen areas to help grow their market, deliver projects, and communicate with clients.

Vietsol founder and CEO Tuan Nguyen added: “This collaboration brings together complementary strengths that can create greater value for automotive customers in Southeast Asia and selected global market.”

The agreement builds on KPIT’s earlier moves in Vietnam, where it opened a technology centre in Hanoi and formed partnerships with local universities.

As part of its stated “long-term” plans for the country, the company has also signed MoUs with Hanoi University of Science and Technology and VinUniversity.
