Vehicle
production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated
325,031 units, down from the 346,272 cars and trucks built last week, according
to Ward’s Automotive Reports.
Including this week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals
12,225,073 vehicles, down 12.5 percent from like-2000’s pace.

In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 245,384 vehicles this week,
down 1.6 percent from the 249,483 cars and trucks built last week. To date,
calendar 2001 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 8,817,578 units, down
13.2 percent from the 10,153,903 vehicles built in like-2000.
This week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 39,787, a 32.1 percent
decrease from the 58,638 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar-2001
Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,985,579 units, down 15.1 percent
compared to the 2,339,434 vehicles produced in like-2000.
