Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation reported an almost 13% year-on-year decline in global production to 65,646 vehicles in May 2026, down from 75,350 units in the same month last year. Production in Japan dropped by over 14% to 33,653 units, while overseas output fell by 11.5% to 31,993 units.
Sales in Japan, including vehicles imported from overseas, fell by 4.9% to 8,128 units in May, while exports from Japan fell by 1% to 18,934 units, with shipments to North America amounting to 15,076 units.

In the first five months of the year, Mitsubishi’s global production increased by 5.6% to 388,031 vehicles, after declining by almost 9% to 367,446 units a year earlier. Domestic output increased by almost 5.1% to 213,363 units in this period, while overseas production rose by over 6.3% to 174,668 units. Sales in Japan increased by 10.6% to 55,202 units in this period, while exports increased by almost 9% to 100,620 units.
