Jurgen Hubbert, currently head of the Mercedes Car Group, will head the executive automotive committee from August 1, assuming responsibility for all multi-brand product issues on the DaimlerChrysler board.


Current Chrysler chief operating officer Wolfgang Bernhard will return to Germany from May 1 and will take board-level responsibility for the Mercedes Car Group from August 1, replacing Hubbert in this position. From May to the end of July Hubbert and Bernhard will jointly head Mercedes.


Chrysler production head Tom La Sorda will replace Bernhard as Chrysler COO on May 1 and will also become a deputy board member for three years.


Research and technology head Thomas Weber will become a full board member on May 1 and take over responsibility for the development department of the Mercedes Car Group from Hans-Joachim Schopf who retires by July 30.

Bodo Uebber, a board deputy member currently in charge of DaimlerChrysler Services, will become a full board member on December 16 and assume additional responsibility for the finance & controlling division, succeeding Manfred Gentz.


The DaimlerChrysler board has “unanimously” agreed to extend chairman Jurgen Schrempp’s term of office for a further three years.
