The Auris, which will be unveiled at the Paris auto show on 28 September, will be more upscale and radically styled than the Corolla.

Sources told ANE that Toyota is giving the Corolla replacement the new name, meaning “good taste” in Latin, to reflect the styling changes. The word also means ear.

The new car will be built in Toyota’s factory in Burnaston, Central England, for the Western Europe and Japanese markets.

A Turkish-built sedan version sold in Eastern Europe will continue to be called the Corolla, with sales starting early next year.
