Ford today announced the appointment of Bruce R. Swift as Vice President Purchasing for Ford of Europe, with immediate effect.

Mr. Swift succeeds Hans-Peter Kunze, who is taking up an appointment outside Ford, and will report to Carlos Mazzorin, Group Vice President, Global Purchasing and South America, Ford Motor Company and to David Thursfield, President, Ford of Europe.

He is presently Director of Vehicle Operations Purchasing for Ford in Europe, a position he has held since 1998. Prior to this Mr. Swift was Director of Powertrain Purchasing for Ford Motor Company, which followed a period as Director of Strategic Planning and Process Improvement – Purchasing.

In 1996 he was appointed Director of Raw Materials – Purchasing and subsequently named Global Director of Raw Materials – Purchasing.

Mr. Swift joined Ford in 1992 as Manager of the Supplier Value Management Department after working for Honda of America Manufacturing, a position he held until being appointed Purchasing Manager of Raw Materials – Purchasing in 1995. I

n his new position Mr. Swift will be responsible for all Ford purchasing functions in Europe. Born in 1954 in Abington, Pennsylvania, he holds a BA in Finance.
